ShearCore hosted its August Advanced Technical Training at our headquarters in Superior, Wisconsin. Over the course of two full days, service technicians from across the industry had the opportunity to dive deep into everything Fortress — from how our shears are built to how to keep them running at peak performance in the field.
What makes this training unique? It takes place in the same facility where every Fortress shear is engineered, manufactured, and assembled. There’s no better place to learn about these tools than where they’re brought to life with the very team who builds them.
The training kicked off with a warm welcome from the ShearCore leadership followed by a safety briefing and a guided tour of the shop floor led by Jim Campbell, Sr. VP of Operations. Attendees got a firsthand look at the cutting-edge technology and precision manufacturing that goes into every Fortress shear.
Technical training topics included:
Lunch was provided by Corktown Deli, fueling the group for a productive afternoon of hands-on instruction. The day wrapped up with dinner at Mexico Lindo in Duluth’s historic Fitger’s Complex, the perfect way to connect and unwind after a day of learning.
The second day focused on system-level understanding and advanced repair techniques. Topics included:
Attendees also had the opportunity to ask questions and review what they had learned over the two days. Lunch from Erbert and Gerbert’s kept everyone energized, and the event closed with dinner at Green Mill in Canal Park, offering a scenic and relaxed setting to end the week.
Our goal with every training is to give technicians the confidence and knowledge to service Fortress shears efficiently and effectively, helping minimize downtime and maximize productivity in the field.
Brian Hawn, VP of Service, emphasized that Advanced Technical Training is not just a learning experience for attendees but also a valuable opportunity for ShearCore. “It’s a chance for us to listen and understand what’s happening in the field and continue to strengthen the relationships between us and the customer,” he explained.
Thank you to all the technicians who attended and to the ShearCore team for making this training possible. We look forward to hosting more opportunities like this in the future.
